Cattle from Groveland FarmsSimmentals and Shorthorns. The Commercial Herd Comprisng of 350 Simmental and Hereford suckler cows, the herd is expanding producing its own replacements. Selected for their fertility and ease of calving, calves are born between March and June and are weaned at approx. 5 months into our feedlot. Here they are fed maize and grass silage for 6 months then are moved to the fattening yards in Felbrigg and Banningham. In the fattening yards they are fed on a mixture of of home grown wheat , barley, rape meal, maize and grass silage. This system produces good quality beef which is then sold in our farm shop through our on-site butchers.
Groveland Simmentals Our simmentals consist of 20 breeding females which are bred to produce good quality bulls for our commercial herd. Our aims of breeding are to create easy calving, fast growth rates and reduce the burden of dehorning. Groveland Shorthorns The shorthorns have produced high quality tender, tasty meat which has proved to be very important and popular for retailing. They consistof 15 breeding females producing bulls for our commercial herds.
